Meeting Minutes

Attendees

  • Bob Griffin (liasion from IEEE P1619.3 group)
  • Mingliang Pei
  • Andrea Doherty
  • Hannes Tschofenig

Discussion

1. Sample messages and consolidated protocol schema (draft) were posted to the mailing list 23 May 2007. No feedback yet. Draft protocol doc will be distributed to mailing list on Monday 11 June.

2. Usage of PSKC within protocol: The protocol schema will rely on the PSKC namespace, esp. for secret container format. However, the protocol will not rely solely on the PSKC; rather, PSKC will be a default (and recommended) choice for implementers.

3. Bob gave an update on work being done in IEEE P1619.3 (Key Management) group and will post email to mailing list with latest documents from P1619.3 on key management use cases and proposals.

ACTION ITEM: Bob will distribute information about the IEEE P1619.3 status.

4. Briefly discussed potential touchpoint between P1619.3 and KEYPROV asbeing P11 integration to KEYPROV protocol.

5. Briefly discussed Authentication Data protection over HTTP

ACTION ITEM: Andrea and Ming to provide more details than available on the issue tracker.

6. Mingliang will have Issue Tracker updated by end of day.

Discussion

We went through issue 3, 4 and 5 from the issue tracker. Text has been incorporated into the issue tracker already and distributed to the mailing list.

Issue 3: Consistent definition about IDs between Keyprov and PSKC: TokenID?, DeviceID?, and KeyID? http://www.tschofenig.com:8080/keyprov/issue3

The document differentiates 4 different identities: user, device, key id, key type It is necessary to introduce the terms in the terminology section and to show how the different identities relate to each other.

Issue 4: Should TokenID? and KeyID? be string instead of binary? http://www.tschofenig.com:8080/keyprov/issue4

We concluded that we need to investigate closer what the impact of a change from base64Binary to string means for applications.

Issue 5: Different approaches used to refer to algorithms in keyprov and PSKC http://www.tschofenig.com:8080/keyprov/issue5

It was noticed that the usage of algorithm identification was not used in the same way throughout the document. Furthermore, there is the question how to identify and register different algorithms. The current proposal is to use URIs and to refer to the XMLDSIG spec or to 4051. It might be necessary to still define a separate registry.

Discussion

Next steps for draft submissions and open issues with the current document.

The plan is to submit a -01 version before the draft submission deadline. A couple of review comments have been sent to the mailing list and they will be incorporated and the document will be restructured a bit.

Around IETF#69 the chairs will ask the group whether the current document can become a working group item.
