SunRocket?
We do intend to implement necessary pieces for the deployment of an ECRIT solution and contribute back any software not specific to
SunRocket? as open source.
At present, I believe we will be implementing the following components:
- A LoST resolver.
- An L7-LCP server.
- Either SIP/PRES or HTTP dereference protocol (maybe both)
- Modification of our SIP proxies to support Location header.

Austrian Emergency Services Project
We have started a project in Austria we plan to fully demonstrate the following components by end of 2006:
- Georeferencing & HELD enabling a local BB ISP for their complete
- infrastructure
- Setting up a mock LoST service and mock PSAP's
- Working with client manufacturers (e.g. AVM Fritz!box) to enable
- Location conyeance in SIP and STUN+HELD lookups
- Optionally, deploying HELD client/DHCP location distribution in a
- Openwrt.org based access device, potentially with a SIP client or asterisk on same box
- Optionally, setting a business user scenario with switch-port based
- Location referencing and a local HELD server
We will base the HELD server on the Andrew prototype. We are interested in demonstrating both provider-asserted and user-provided location (e.g., by a SIRFIII GPS that should work indoor).
I'm actively seeking cooperation on co-development of a
LoST server. It can be a prototype for now; with an eye towards production later. Let me know if you are interested. Results in open source only required.
Also, cooperation on showcase clients would be appreciated.
A possible client setup could be a Linksys router
- OpenWRT? Linux
- Asterisk on openwrt
- Dumb terminal adapter on LAN / X-Lite on Laptop / WLAN
- Held client
- Asterisk modified to convey location as needed
A possible client platform would be a Nokia 770.
