ITU-T Liaison
The chairs have received a liaison document from the ITU-T with the title: "RFC 3588 - Requirement of Session State Machine for Diameter Server Initiated Session"
Here is the extracted text:
"
ITU-T study group 11 question 5 would like to acknowledge the versatility of the Diameter Protocol for its suitability over many interfaces in Next Generation Networks (NGN). The group has decided to use the protocol (as one of the alternatives) for the Rs and Rw interfaces in the Resource and Admission Control Function (RACF) part of the NGN. The latest drafts of the corresponding protocol specification documents for the Rs and Rw interfaces are Q.3301.1 and Q.rcp3.3 (T05-NGN.GSI-DOC-0127) respectively.
The Rw interface exists between Policy Decision Physical Entity (PD-PE) and the Policy Enforcement Physical Entity (PE-PE) where PD-PE acts as the diameter server and the PE-PE acts as the diameter client. For the pull mode of operation, the PE-PE establishes a diameter session and the corresponding state machine is covered in section 8.1 of the RFC 3588. But for the push mode there is a requirement that the PD-PE, acting as a diameter server, initiates the session for which no state machine has been provided in the RFC. The RFC, however, in the last paragraph of its section 8.8 indicates indirectly that there is possibility of the session initiation by the server.
ITU-T study group 11 question 5 would like to look for comments and enhancement of the diameter protocol to clearly specify the session state machine for the case of diameter server initiated session.

Currently, the following items are listed and per December 2006 the following action items have been identified:
Diameter API
Mar 2006 Submit Diameter API to IESG as an information RFC
The working group last call of the Diameter API has finished on Monday, December 4th.
| Action item | A PROTO writeup has to be produced (suggested document shepherd is John Loughney). |
Diameter URI
May 2006 Submit Diameter URI to IESG as an information RFC
As discussed during IETF #67 it was suggested to remove this item from the charter page.
Diameter QoS?
Sep 2006 Submit Diameter
QoS? Application to IESG as a Proposed Standard
A small group of authors started with the draft update with Glen Zorn as the document editor.
Suggested milestone date: July 2007
Diameter Application Design Guidelines
Sep 2006 Submit Diameter Application Design Guidelines to IESG as an informational RFC
Suggested new milestone date: Sep. 2007

Jan 2007 Submit Diameter Base to IESG as a Draft Standard
The Diameter Base Draft needs to be submitted as working group item.
| Action item | Status |
| Victor to submit draft as WG item. | Done |
Suggested milestone date for the revised Diameter Base document: July 2007
Diameter Mobility
Currently a milestone is missing (due to some sort of update failure of the webpage). We need to add something and here is the proposal: Aug 2007
Adding New Work
A number of IETF DIME working group members have expressed interest in starting new work. As indicated by the ADs, no new work will be added before making progress with the current items.
As part of the recharting process a ranking of new work items should be compiled. This ranking should serve as a suggestion on what to add in the future.
